Many hospitals have established clinics for ambulatory surgery, where the patients are dismissed right after surgery. Besides this, the hospitals are also focusing more and more on quality assurance of the patient treatments. The ambulatory surgery of patients puts higher demands on the department, especially when it comes to communication and information. Since the patients are present in the department only in for a short time, the communication between the patient and the personnel and internally between the personnel becomes one of the major quality factors.

Also the information given to the patient and the relatives about the treatment and related precautions is vital for them to be able to feel safe and to continue the treatment after leaving the hospital. MI-ro™ DagKir is a registration system is especially designed for the ambulatory surgical clinics and it is capable of handling the whole patient process, from the beginning to the end, and to assure the quality of communication and information. The system is module-based in order to be highly flexible and able to support the many different tasks.

The Danish Society for Ambulatory Anesthesia is currently working on a definition of a minimal data set for this area. This data set is to be used for a nation-wide data collection, which will enable the individual surgical departments to compare their quality and patient outcome to other departments and to a Danish average. MI-ro DagKir supports the preliminary data-set and will support the final data-set when this is defined.
